the world of jazz, the world of music has lost an outstanding voice, be it through her singing or pushing the civil rights movement.
Abbey Lincoln died a few days after her 80s birthday in Manhattan August 14th 2010. Rest in paradise, rest in peace.
A little tribute mix with a couple of tunes that i played 3 years ago when Max Roach, her longtime husband, passed away,
taken from the highly important "Freedom Suite" album plus two songs off the beautiful "Abbey Is Blue" longplayer . . . thanks Lady Lincoln!
Then into a warm up vibe for this weekends DJ session - another fine soul mix by Marcel Vogel out of Amsterdam and a minimix by Rob S out of Nuernberg, head of inphusion Records and one of the best dancers i know . . . here on the uptempo side of things. Looking forward to this saturday, thanks a lot !!!
out of my box TUNES by Maddslinky and Omar, The Revenge and a heavy Slow Jam Edit by Cosmic Boogie among others, enjoy your life !
... on the DJ side of things i am looking very much forward to end my extended summer break at the soulsearching summer session 2010 which will take place August 21st at Schwedlersee Frankfurt with guests Michael Reinboth, Marcel Vogel and Rob S. Hotter than July, make this a date!
enjoy the music,
michael
